After their recent recall, Natura Pet Products, a Nebraska-based pet food company is expanding the voluntary recall to include more of its products due to Salmonella contamination.

Though no Salmonella related illnesses have so far been reported, the contaminated products could pose hazardous health risks to both pets and humans, according to The U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The FDA said that the sampling conducted by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Georgia Department of Agriculture confirmed the presence of Salmonella in some batches of dry cat food and cat pet treats.

A statement from the FDA also explained that certain products that could have been affected by the salmonella may have been sold through veterinary clinics and select pet specialty retailers nationwide and in parts of Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Costa Rica. It is also sold online.

Dry cat food expiration dates for the expanded recall range from  1/1/2014 to 3/24/2014. The dry cat treats have expiration dates from 7/1/13 to 9/27/13, according to CBS Chicago.

"Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting," the FDA statement said. Other pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.

The previous recall included brands of Evo, California Natural, Healthwise and Innova brands.
