If you have the habit of leaving your car parked at the charging station, even after it has been fully charged, there's a bad news for you. The EV giant has decided to teach the drivers, who hog the Tesla Supercharger Network, a lesson by imposing a fine as maximum as $2 for leaving their cars idly on the stations.

Tesla announced the major plan earlier on Friday, stating that the new strategy would help improve the Tesla Supercharger Network's efficiency and will also make it much the charging of EVs much more convenient for travelers. Here's everything you should know about the new Fine plan:

The company made it clear in their announcement that only the car owners who leave their fully charged vehicles at charging spots will have to pay the idling fee. The officials also added that the company had no intention of earning money from the new implementation and that the decision has been made for the better good of all the Tesla Users.

 The idle fee will be charged to every Tesla car, leaving no exception and will mount up at the rate of $0.40 for every exceeded minute a charged EV occupies a Tesla Supercharger Network station. The idling fee, however, can be saved if the vehicle leaves the charging station within 5 minutes of getting fully charged. The company made this quite clear earlier stating that the idling fee, which accounts to maximum $2 for 5 minutes, will be completely waived off if the car leaves within 5 minutes after the charging has been completed.

Tesla Supercharger Network: How's The Fine beneficial?

According to the announcement, the very aim of the Supercharger network is to enable an enjoyable and seamless road trip experience. When several drivers hog up the charging stations, other Tesla users have to face a lot of inconveniences as they cannot charge their EVs because of the already fully charged Tesla cars occupying the spots. So, in order to prevent this situation happening at its charging stations, Tesla has decided to introduce a fleet-wide idle fee.

The new system will not only help to increase Supercharger availability read but will also provide a rather improved experience for Tesla Owners. The company also believes that in the near future, Tesla EVs will be able to leave the stations themselves for other cars, after they've been fully charged. Currently, the Tesla owners will be notified after their vehicle has finished charging so that they can remove their vehicles in the next 5 minutes from the charging stations.
