Google recently issued a clarification about the charging capacity of their new smartphones the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL after a credible tester of the Android Community tested the two smartphone's specs. It turns out that the smaller Google flagship Pixel smartphone does not charge at the stated 18W peak power as what was advertised on the smartphone's website.

Android Police sent some inquiries to Google for some clarity regarding the tester's initial findings. On their part Google confirmed that they have overlooked the editing of the description of the specification for the Google Pixel. This happened after both smartphones were listed at a charging peak of 18W. To make amends on the oversight, the search giant has now fixed the description on their website from "18W charging" to "15W-18W charging".

The company did not release any information on why they have chosen to give the Google Pixel a limit in its peak charging wattage. However, the tech giant has admitted their oversight and has assured users that the charger can still be utilized for the phone. The only difference is that only the Google Pixel XL can maximize the allowable wattage limit of 18W unlike the Google Pixel which uses a 15W charge.

For the inquisitive and curious minds the results of the aforementioned tests can be seen here. And you can look at how the tester identified the oversight for the new Google smartphones.

In related news, the demand on the new Google Pixel smartphones are on the rise giving some curious minds to look into the new phones. New stocks are now available on the Google Store but they are quickly running out. Variants of the new smartphones are coming in including Google Pixel in Silver or Black with 32GB of storage as well as the Pixel XL in Black with 32GB of storage.
