Although the current Camry is not that an attractive vehicle, the upcoming 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid model seems to be much of a surprise. Spied sometime last month, the new Hybrid features a lot of upgrades and does show quite a lot of promise. Undergoing high-speed driving tests with a Highlander, the 2018 next gen model seems to be a high-performance variant of the earlier sedan.

The spied prototype is shown featuring the sportier black multi-spoke wheels, which suggests a high-performance model. Although the side profile isn't that different from the current model, the car does feature a more angular design. Here's what we know about the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid model so far:

2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid: Specs And Features

The spied images of the prototype reveal the model to feature four exhaust tips, new and relatively sportier wheels, and also a body kit. The 2018 hybrid model seems to be continuing the suspension setup and visual upgrades from the current Camry XSE trim. The new 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid will have Toyota's TNGA architecture that has recently been featured on the new Prius model.

The Camry Hybrid is also expected to have a reduced weight so as to provide a better handling mechanism. If speculations are true, then the new model may have a 2.0-liter turbo four engine along with the earlier 3.5-liter V-6 still available as an option.

It's highly expected that both these engines will be teamed up with an eight-speed automatic System. The 2.5-liter inline four engine, however, will be the base engine while being paired with a six-speed auto transmission. The hybrid engine will most likely be revealed at a later date.

2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid: Interior And Exterior

Some of the significant changes have been made in the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid's interior and exterior. The fascia of the Hybrid has LED headlights as well as turn signals. The narrow taillights, on the other hand, look very much similar to the ones featured on the earlier Avalon.

The dashboard has revised air vents and a new chrome trim on the instrument panel. The rear part of the 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid has almost the same modifications as the front. The earlier curvy rear has been replaced with a new pointy design body, highlighted by LED taillights which are boomerang shaped. A slim spoiler has also been placed atop the trunk and the quad-exhaust tips give the 2018 model a much sportier look.

Although there is a tough competition from Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, and various others, Toyota has still managed to lead in the midsize segment sales. The 2018 Toyota Camry Hybrid is expected to be officially revealed at the Detroit auto show in January, next year. No official announcements have yet been made regarding the upcoming Camry's price.
