"Battlefield 1" is going to be finally released for the fans of the series. Together with the release announcement, comes the confirmation that a very unusual weapon will be included in this release. The weapon we're talking about is the 2mm Kolibri.

We have seen numerous news these past few weeks from Battlefield 1's pre-release camp as we come closer to its October 21 launch date. We recently learned that a new editing tool will be available for its spectator mode. Some say its single player mode may be the best DICE has made to date.

With the release of Battlefield 1, fans are discovering a few easter eggs hidden away in the game. One of those easter egg is the inclusion of the most infamous guns in the history of weaponry. The 2mm Kolibri is a tiny, tiny gun that some may find funny but this gun is the real deal.

The featured gun might sound ridiculous but it is surely nice to have in-game. The 2mm Kolibri Pistol was made between 1910 and 1914 by an Austrian Watchmaker making it ideal for Battlefield 1. It was manufactured prior to the start of WW1 and it could fire a three grain projectile at about 650 feet per second. The gun was initially intended as a self-defense weapon but it turned out to be pretty rubbish because users realized that the bullets had poor penetration power and a very low accuracy.

The gun could only fire at around 4 joules - less than that of a paintball gun. If you would shoot one of these things into a sheet of plywood, it would only make it a couple of centimeters deep within the wood. Such real-life performance explains why this tiny pistol does so little damage in Battlefield 1.

Today, the original 2mm Kolibri pistols are very rare and some may find it as a treasure with great value for gun enthusiasts and collectors alike.
