The smartness is the main demand if we look at the consumer behavior rationally. In this advanced era, the need for technological superiority and smartness is rocketing, with brands competing over features. Well, even a toaster, nowadays, is smart, but when it comes to cars, how can BMW and Mercedes, the two great rivals spare each other?

The two companies are once again in the proving grounds with the urge of gaining technological and electrical superiority for their models. BMW hopes to take its long standing rival the Mercedes down this time with the upcoming models of the BMW 5 series.

Mid-size sedan is somehow an all-rounder in the World of cars. Everyone seems to be in love with these pieces of art, and BMW plans to take Mercedes on just from that angle. The automobile industry giant plans to equip BMW 5-series sedans with some state-of-the-art electronic features that will cover up the lead of Mercedes in the upcoming years.

The latest model is going to be rolled out in the year 2017, and the model will host many technical and communicational systems. These systems will primarily be borrowed from the Flagship-7 series sedans. Some of the salient features include semiautonomous driving, gesture friendly car environment and the ability to park the car while the driver stands outside the vehicle.

About the upcoming car, we find the quote of Klaus Froehlich on autonews website, that is:

"With the new generation of the car we are once again setting the benchmark in all areas; it combines dynamic excellence and comfort to the best possible effect," the BMW board development member said, "Plus, the new BMW 5 Series sedan is at the leading edge of technology when it comes to driver assistance and connectivity."

This 5 class rival is expected to compete against the Mercedes-Benz's tech-stuffed E class sedan. The claims of Mercedes also show that their sedan is also armed to teeth when it comes to technology. We saw Mercedes also making the same claims about their car, which went on sale this year.

This is a race of two World class brands in the grounds of superior technology. The supremacy demands autonomous and electronic superiority. The upcoming years will be deciding which brand actually dominates.

The upcoming BMW 5-Series sedan will have a lot to offer to demolish the Mercedes E-Class, which is outselling the car from the past 7 years. It will be:

1.       Larger as well as lighter:

The 5 series will be both larger and lighter as compared to the current car. It will have a 137 pounds reduction in its weight because more lightweight materials are added into the car. The use of these lightweight materials can be understood by the trunk of the car, which will now be made up of Aluminum.

On the other hand, the car will be 1.2 inches longer and 0.3 inches wider than the ongoing model. These dimensions are increased to give the users more space. In addition to the length and width, the height of the car has also increased by 0.6 inches in the latest model, and the wheelbase is 0.2 inches longer.

2.       Semiautonomous feature excellence:

The BMW is also going to have semiautonomous features. The car has an active lane-keeping and traffic-jam assist features that work semi autonomously for speeds upto 130 mph.

The car also supports active cruise control and radar guidance for the superior edge in the technological superiority. The car would stop if the vehicle ahead of it stops, and it begins to move 30 seconds after the traffic begins to move.

Collision side avoidance factor is also added to the car for technological superiority against the Mercedes. The car will warn the driver, and if not responded, it would automatically steer sideways to avoid the collision.

These are the features packed inside the BMW 5 to take down the market of the Mercedes. Indeed, if a car comes with such high plus points, the competition will surely get tough. We look forward to a safe driving and a smart and intelligent car for our road safety in the upcoming time.
