Westworld Show Inspired By Bioshock, GTA, and Red Dead Redemption

Westworld, the latest television series from HBO  has been well received by the viewers. The Makers of Westworld have cited games such as Bioshock, GTA, and Red Dead Redemption as an influenced for the show.

Westworld is Inspired from Well-Known Games

Westworld which premiered a couple of weeks back is a TV adaptation of the 1973 movie by the same name. The Show Westworld explores the main premise of the games such as Bioshock and GTA. It explores how people behave virtually in the darkest possible ways.

Westworld is a modern western theme park wherein the hosts are humanistic robots that interact with guests. The hosts are similar to non-playable characters of the games GTA and Bioshock, who cannot harm the players.

Westworld's executive producers Lisa Joy Nolan and Jonathan Nolan recently discussed the inspiration that the show draws from Games franchises such as Bioshock. In a TV show's panel at New York Comic-Con 2016, said, "Bioshock is amongst the most literate and thoughtful pieces of entertainment I've seen in the last ten years."

Speaking about drawing inspiration from the Games, Jonathan Further added, "It really speaks to the game-like aspect of it. The way that we act in our simulations is not how we act in the real world. That binary aspect of his personality is something we're exploring."As reported in Gamerant.

Gamers well versed with Games such as GTA, Red Dead Redemption, and Bioshock, are aware that there is more to the Games than shooting people blindly. The creators of the show Westworld seem to have understood these aspects quite well and are using these nuances as inspiration for the show. Nolan pointed out a footage from Bioshock ,elaborating how the NPCs communicate and have more to the storyline than just appearances.

It looks like Westworld has taken inspiration from few of the finest video games available. The Gaming enthusiast will hope the creators draw more inspiration from GTA, Bioshock, and Red Dead Redemption to make a finely integrated television series.
