Growing concerns about a mysterious virus mount as the 10th case is identified in the United Kingdom, according to a Feb. 11 Christian Post report. There is also ongoing concern about whether this new dangerous virus that reportedly causes kidney failure and acute breathing problems will spread like the 2003 SARS virus.

British Officials confirmed the tenth case in the United Kingdom of the coronavirus, a mysterious disease related to SARS that was first identified last year. The patient who contracted the virus has reportedly traveled to the Middle East and Pakistan and is now in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Manchester.

According to the Christian Post, coronaviruses have been described as part of a family of viruses behind various ailments including the common cold and SARS. The 2003 SARS epidemic is reported to have killed around 800 people worldwide.

Animal carriers can spread the virus, including camels and bats according to The Huffington Post.

A study to be published in the March issue of the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases will investigate bats and their relations to the diseas, including those from Europe, Russia, parts of Asia and Africa and the Middle East that may carry viruses that are very closely related to the new coronavirus, called EMC 2012.

The Christian Post reports that there is no evidence yet that the virus is passed from human contact, and all previously identified cases have been linked to the Middle East, but as of 2012, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the virus may be more widespread than previously thought and asked that tests be run on anyone with unexplained pneumonia.

Concerns about the virus are spreading nationally. Check out this video, courtesy of the Huffington Post.
