The Android 7.1 Nougat is probably the most-awaited OS update from Google. The new version, which will have some new Launcher features, is expected to be introduced as early as next week on handsets from some popular Android manufacturers. However, if you can't wait that long, you can also check the new features out beforehand using Action Launcher.

Why use the App?

If you want to lay your hands on some of the latest features from the Google Pixel's home screen launcher or in case you just don't have a device that will get a quick update to the latest version, Action Launcher is the App for you.

The third party App gives you an idea of the latest Update 7.1 Nougat of Android, which includes new launcher shortcuts and also a sliding all-apps drawer, without having to install any leaked APK files that do not even work. The developer of Action Launcher, Chris Lacy, stated earlier that he was inspired by Android Police's report on the Launcher update and added the features the website previewed into his Action Launcher 3 update.

What's new?

The latest version of the third-party app comes with a new quick-cuts feature, which recreates some of the launcher shortcuts from the yet unannounced Android 7.1 Nougat. These shortcuts, which were actually discovered by enterprising hackers in some Google apps, let you perform a gesture on a particular icon so as to access different areas of that app.

Action Launcher 3 is very popular among users for its great customization options along with the regular exciting updates. A few weeks ago, Lacy has also brought a wave of new features to the app, particularly Nexus Launcher integration.

A new feature, Quickcuts lets you access an app's overall functions just from a gesture on its icon. The App also provides support for All Apps drawer coming up in Pixel Launcher, which is accessible by an upward swipe at the dock.

Android 7.1 Nougat updates

Google is expected to unveil the latest Android update 7.1, Nougat at the company's event in San Francisco next week. Although there's still time for the update's official roll-out, Action Launcher 3 does add some of the coming up functions to the Android version you already have on your smartphone.

Action Launcher 3 also sports a new Google search and date widget, along with Launcher Shortcuts, which work in a similar way as the 3D touch shortcuts function in the iOS. The App also has the rumored circular icon design Google is to introduce in its new Pixel phones.
