There's still time for the big showdown of fighter robots between USA and Japan. The team at MegaBots Inc. just posted a video on their Youtube account earlier this Wednesday. The video illustrates the battle skills of their 6-ton, 15-foot fighter robot.

Preparation for battle

The video shows the USA Team's Mark II robot being tested with a wrecking ball. The test included a crash test in its pilot cage. The Robot appears to be handling the blows quite well. In a few months, it will face the slick Kuratas featuring some deadly skills from the Japanese robot builders.

Matt Oehrlein of the Megabots believes they're quite good at building fighter robots. Mark II is the star of MegaBots' online video series, which was launched earlier on YouTube this week.

The training session

The opening show features the $200,000 robot being tested for its durability by the team as a part of its preparation for the Giant Robot Duel against the mighty Japanese Kuratas. Obviously, the team members wouldn't sit inside the cockpit at this stage so they called upon a brave volunteer, the crash test dummy.

Randy, the dummy had an array of sensors to assess the injuries caused by the driver in a likely fight event. The outcome of the strike is obviously not pretty. Thanks to the brave Randy, now we know what'd have happened if there was a real human sitting in there.

Only Future will tell whether the MegaBots machine will be able to handle the deadly Kuratas or not. From the video, however, it looks like the U.S.A team still has to do a little work on it, especially in the pilot's cage. Well, whatever the result, the battle of giant robots is going to be fun. Of course for everyone not sitting inside the giant robot's pilot cage.

A date for the Giant Robot Duel has not yet been set, but the video is a demo of all the fun we could be in when the two giant robots finally come face to face.
