UFO Hoax Video: Visual Effect's Specialist Faked 39-Second Clip in Santa Clarita

Recent reports have confirmed that the much talked about YouTube video "UFO Over Santa Clarita" has just been exposed as a hoax.

The video was posted in October 2012 and shows what looks like amateur footage shot from inside a car showing of a hovering disc and then a larger craft.

The creator admitted it was a hoax months after putting it online.

Wired.com reported that there was nothing real about any of the video, including the car, the sky, and everything represented in the video. Unfortunately for its followers, literally everything was computer generated.

The YouTube description lists as follows:

"Shot October 2012 while driving through Santa Clarita. There were two crafts. After sighting the first I stopped the car and ran into a field for a better look. What happened next was unbelievable."

 Visual effects specialist Aristomenis Tsirbas shared what the 39-second clip "UFO Over Santa Clarita," which he posted to YouTube last year.

In the video, a driver who appears to be cruising along a California desert road suddenly spots a bizarre object soaring across the sky, and is heard muttering, "Whoa."

The driver then pulls the car over, and gets out to get a better shot of the object. It zips back, and is soon picked up by a mothership, which appears with a flash.

Only thing is, as we know now, the entire thing is fake.

"The point of the video was to prove that CGI can look natural and convincing," he said. "Everybody assumes the background and car are real, and that the UFOs are probably fake, especially the over-the-top mothership at the end. The general reaction is disbelief, so I usually have to prove it by showing a wireframe of the entire shot to prove that nothing is real."

You fooled us for a while there, Tsirbas.
