Robin Sachs Dies: Actor's Mysterious Death Unknown

The British actor known for his role on the hit television show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" died yesterday at age 61, according to a Feb. 6 TV Guide report. Sachs was known for playing the recurrent character Ethan Rayne on the show from 1997 - 2000.

A former nemesis of Buffy's watcher, Giles, his character was infamously responsible for turning Giles into a demon and a few other despicable acts.

The actor was born in London and first appeared in the British film "Vampire Circus" in 1972. He was also known for his role as Adam Carrington in "Dynasty: The Reunion," and he replaced the original star, Gordon Thompson, when he became unavailable. He has also had a steady career in television with a primary focus in sci-fi series, including "NCIS," "Babylon 5," "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Torchwood: Miracle Day." He also appeared in the film Galaxy Quest.

However the cause of his death is still unknown at this time. The announcement came of his death came off his official website, , and a statement asked fans to raise a glass to Robin, whose laughter and cookies will be greatly missed.

"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Robin Sachs. Please join us in raising a glass to Robin -- goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much."

A memorial service for Robin Sachs is being planned in Los Angeles.

And as for his cause of death, it's still a mystery at this time.
