Tesla's CEO Elon Musk wasn't just boasting when he stated that Tesla doesn't know how to make slow cars. Last month the car manufacturer revealed a brand new P100D option for both Model S and Model X, both of their performance being absolutely astonishing. The Model S P100D with added ludicrous mode is recorded to be the third fastest accelerating production car that's ever been produced, with a jaw-dropping acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

The other two cars on the list are the LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. Both of them being million dollar vehicles, they are pretty much hard to be bought new. While these cars are just two seaters with very little or no luggage space, the all-wheel drive and pure electric Model S P100D has seats for up to 5 adults with 2 children and has an exceptional cargo capacity, states a report on Tesla's official blog.

The car runs on a 100 kWh battery that increases its range significantly to about 315 miles on EPA cycle alone and about 613 km on NEDC cycle, making the P100D the first longest range production electric vehicle to go beyond 300 miles so far.

The bigger battery pack is available on the Model X also, making the world's quickest SUV even more fast. The Model X P100D with added ludicrous mode accelerates to a record speed of 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds. Model X is also another pure electric SUV and has the ability to seat up to seven adults, according to a report on Teslarati.com.

Both the cars, Model S as well as Model X, have been engineered to be some of the safest cars on the road along with having the highest ratings from the NHTSA. Both of them also have access to the Tesla Supercharger network giving extra freedom for travelling long distance that too for free.

The P100D Ludicrous though is an expensive vehicle; it's worth emphasizing that each of its sale helps in paying for the more affordable Tesla Model 3 that is presently under development. If customers are not willing to buy these expensive models, the company may not be able to fund the smaller and more affordable Model 3 development, states bgr.com.

Tesla's customers who have already ordered the P90D Ludicrous, but have not yet taken delivery, can also upgrade to the 100 kWh pack just for $10,000. Whereas, the existing P90D Ludicrous owners can upgrade to the 100 kWh pack for $20,000, as their used 90 kWh pack that's already been used will have to be recycled.
