If you use Uber everyday or are a follower of the taxi service, you must've heard some pretty exhilarating news recently. Well, while the company is testing out its new self-driving cars in the area around Pittsburgh, the new update in the Uber app allows you to use Apple Maps and even Siri to hail a ride for you from anywhere you wish.

At present by paying for the service using the Android Pay App, you can get up to 10 rides with a rate about half of that of the normal fare. The competition on the road has constantly been heating up for Uber with new companies coming up every day. Although the Cab providing service doesn't appear to be going anywhere anytime near, it's still very essential that the company keeps its efforts up if it really wishes to lead among the increasing number of competitors.

On September 14, Mark Gurman who is an award winning journalist and covers Apple and other topics related to the consumer technology industry, announced on Twitter that Uber is bringing some exciting new features for users of the app using Apple's iOS 10. The update at present appears to be coming out for individuals who are on the latest version of their mobile's iOS platform. The official build for the new update is Version 2.152.9, reports thenextweb.com.

What's New?

In the latest update, the company has given a big focus on making its Uber App much more accessible for people using their iPhones or iPads than it has ever before. If you're a user of Apple Maps, you can easily jump on to the Ride tab in the app and call an Uber ride without even having to open the actual Uber app. Along with this, you'll now also be able to request a ride just by simply asking Siri, iPhone's AI assistant. Just as you say "Siri, get me an Uber", a request for a ride will be sent using just your voice.

Android users have been using the Google Maps app to request rides with Uber for a while now, so finally it's a good thing to see even the iOS users getting access to this familiar feature. The direct integration with Siri however, does give people on iOS a slight more edge when it comes to the Uber's overall integration with the OS.

If you've already upgraded your iPhone or iPad to iOS 10, you should be able to see the update in your device. In order to take full advantage of this new function, you'll have to first download and install the latest version of the Uber App from the App Store.
