A new upgrade of BioShock and BioShock 2 is to be launched soon. Any player who already has the games on Steam will be upgraded automatically. However, for other players to be able to upgrade their copies of BioShock and BioShock 2 - they will have to find proof of purchase from their old disc cases .

Both copies, bought via Games for Windows Live or physically from a store, will need to be redeemed on Steam using manual methods. 2K Games has also provided information about how to upgrade BioShock and BioShock 2 on PC with the release of BioShock: The Collection.

BioShock 1 - now nine years old - requires you to send proof of purchase of the original game to 2K support, either in physical or digital form. It's unclear what this entails if the player's copy is so old that it didn't originally come with a CD key.

For BioShock 2, you'll need to provide the Games for Windows Live key that came provided with the game. 2K support has released instructions on how to redeem that.

BioShock: The Collection will be launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this week, reports eurogamer. It features BioShock 1, 2 and also Infinite plus all single-player DLC. It also includes the excellent Minerva's Den expansion released for BioShock 2. Steam owners will get automatically upgraded that too for free this Thursday, 15th September.
