Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Release Date, Specs, Price: October Announcement Likely To Compete With Apple MacBook Pro 2016?

Rumors about Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs and prices are not going to end until the software giant reveals any information about the highly anticipated tablet. If new reports are to be believed Microsoft might announce the Surface Pro 5 sometime next month.

According to TechTimes, there is a possibility that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will get unveiled sometime in October. However, the roll out might happen next year. It is reported that Microsoft's logic behind announcing the laptop-tablet hybrid in October is to give a tough fight to Apple's MacBook Pro 2016 which is also rumored to get released around the same time.

Previous reports suggested the software giant has decided to delay the Surface Pro 5 roll out because of Intel's latest Kaby Lake processing chip and Windows 10 Professional Redstone 2 operating system. It is believed that use of Intel's latest Kaby Lake chip, which is likely to get an early 2017 release, will double the efficiency of Microsoft next generation Surface Pro tablet. Also the Windows 10 update, which is still under development, is expected to get released by spring next year with a host of brand-new features and enhancements.

As per report coming from iTechPost, Intel has already started shipping Kaby Lake chips to manufacturers for use in devices. As far as Windows 10 Redstone 2 update is concerned, the first preview of the upgrade has also been rolled out to insiders since early August. So, it is possible that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will get announced in October.

Talking about Microsoft Surface Pro 5 specs, the laptop-tablet hybrid is rumored to get launched in 2K and 4K display models. The device is expected to feature a 4K Ultra HD display, 16 GB of RAM, a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with a price tag of $899 for the base model and $1,599 for the high end model.
