No Man's Sky Update: System Wipes Out Players Discoveries After 2 Weeks?

No Man's Sky is the newest game available for PlayStation 4. It is an action-adventure survival game set in an infinite procedural generated galaxy. However, the players of the game are currently exchanging stories about an issue where players are complaining that their starting planets and other charted territories aren't saving their finds, although the reason why is unclear and in dispute.

According to gamezone.com, some No Man's Sky players are reporting the things they have discovered about the game. One of which is about their finds being slowly wiped out from the game one-by-one. Reports said that when players revisited planets they had discovered, even their home planet, it seemed like they had never been anywhere them.

They found that the names of every discovery, every plant, animal and vista named were gone. The only things that remained were the planet and system names. Polygon.com reported that a reddit thread by a user named Dark_Nexis started off the complaints. The player wrote about how he did everything he could to make it all the way back to his first planet, only to find that everything other than the system and planet names had disappeared.

"I check a few neighboring stars I discovered and their [discoveries] were wiped," Dark_Nexis wrote. "So none of my named animals [or] plants were ever saved." Other players have also added and said that they have experienced similar issues. A user known as Ultasilvanus wrote: "Just to be clear enough, discoveries are being erased in chronological order. First system, second system and so on. It's not random. It's a pattern, starting from your very first discoveries."

Still, "I memorized the planet, and went on playing and discovering new stuff," Ultrasilvanus continued. "The next day, browsed the list again. The planet was wiped clean and so were a couple more."

Although planets and solar system names have not been erased, it still stings to know that everything else you worked so hard to carefully name will be erased after two weeks. Geek.com said that what is happening defeats the purpose of even bothering to come up with a clever name for plants and animals. It's not clear if these discoveries were not saved because the players were offline or servers over-run at launch.

However, there is another theory being considered. It says that the game can only contain a specific amount of discoveries, abandoning the earliest ones to make room for new ones.
