Samsung Launches Z2: World's First 4G Tizen-Powered Smartphone

Samsung on August 23, 2016, launched the Z2 Tizen-powered smartphone in India. The world's first 4G-enabled model which runs on Samsung's new Tizen operating system, will retail for a cool $68 (Rs 4,950) when it hits retailers on August 29th. Samsung Z2 is the smartphone comes with a dedicated S bike mode, which is designed considering the safety concerns of two-wheeler users in India.

Z2 smartphone is powered by a 1500mAh battery, and has been claimed to deliver up to 8 hour of 4G browsing. According to Samsung, it sports a 4.4-inch WVGA (800x480 pixel) display, powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 1 GB of RAM. It offers 8GB of internal storage which can further be expanded up to 128GB using an external microSD card.

In terms of camera, the smartphone sports a 15MP rear sensor with LED flash, while the front camera bears a 0.3MP sensor.The device features VoLTE support and HD voice calling. In addition, it also offers support for LTE Cat.4 with downloads up to 150Mbps, and upload up to 50Mbps.

The Z2 also comes with a number of Samsung features built specially for Indian users. These include an Ultra Data Saving mode, which compresses data by "up to 40 percent," and a bike mode, which makes it easier to field calls when the user is riding, shares Indian Express.

Samsung is also releasing the handset alongside a $185,000 challenge for developers to build games for Tizen, with cash prizes paid out to the most popular apps. Moreover, Samsung Z2 comes with the Jio Preview Offer to avail free voice and data services in the trial period, allowing users to access premium Jio applications - My Jio, Jio on Demand and Jio Beats.

Samsung Z2 will be available in Black, Wine Red, and Gold Colour. The smartphone will start selling in India on August 29.
