Google's inexpensive laptops are set for major changes as the Tech-giant has rolled out Software Upgrade allowing Android Apps to be run on select Chromebooks. At the  I/O, 2016 Google announced that by the end of the year those same apps will arrive on additional Chromebooks making many popular Android Apps like Skype and Microsoft Word available for use.

Through a podcast by USA Today, "It's a game changer," says Mike Phillips, CEO of Sense, a Boston based company that offers a device for energy management. "I've had several Chromebooks, but while they did some things nicely, I was disappointed. They didn't do the things I wanted."

Taking Over The Market

With Chromebooks now running Android apps along with Chrome OS, we may be stepping into a world of pure mobile bliss that finds the perfect middle ground of laptop and tablet. According to Google, users can multi-task in moveable windows along with the desktop Chrome browser, they gain access to keyboard, mouse, and touch input, can share files, and even show notifications!

Now as Google Play has come to Chromebooks, we'll see innovation ramp up around design and companies pushing forward with even higher-spec'd devices than the sub $300 options you see today. Chromebooks will kill the Android tablet and that's probably for the best.

The Google Playstore will initially be available in the fall on 4 models of Chromebooks: The Asus Flip C100, Acer Chromebook R11, Acer Chromebook C738T and Google Chromebook Pixel. For the first time, Chromebooks have surpassed Apple Macs in U.S. sales, reports ZDNet.com. Soon, the Chrome OS will have just as many applications, if not more, than Windows.
