‘Apple Watch 2’ Release Date, Specs, Rumors: No Cellular Connectivity Feature On Board?

After the massive success of Apple Watch, the Cupertino is rumored to release its next gen smartwatch possibly dubbed "Apple Watch 2" sometime in September. While, the iPad maker has not announced anything about the smartwatch, rumors about "Apple Watch 2" release date, specs and price have flooded the internet.

There were rumors that the next gen Apple Watch might feature true cellular connectivity which would make the device entirely independent from the iPhone. But, now new reports suggest the upcoming device will be deprived of the cellular connectivity feature. It is reported that as Apple has not been able to compensate for the extra battery life that is a crucial requirement for cellular connection, it has decided to give up the much anticipated feature. However, there are chances that the feature might get included in the future smartwatch models.

The Apple Watch 2 is expected to come with improved health tracking specs and features as well as GPS-based location tracking, reported MacRumors. At present, Apple Watch users need to have their iPhones with them to track a run or get directions on their smartwatch. GPS feature on upcoming smartwatch mean that individuals will no longer have to be dependent on their iPhones. Furthermore, the Apple Watch 2 is also rumored to include a barometer, a higher capacity battery, and improved waterproofing techniques.

Recent reports suggest Apple has made a shift from Glass on Glass (G/G) touch panel technology to One Glass Solution (OGS) for its upcoming smartwatch. The use of the OGS display technology is expected to result in the Apple Watch 2 being thinner and lighter than its predecessor. Among other specs, the Apple Watch 2 is rumored to feature new microLED screen tech which will consume comparatively lower power than OLED as well ensure a longer battery life and thinner design.

It is rumored that the Apple Watch 2 might come with an ARM Cortex A32 chipset on board. The chipset is almost 25 percent faster than the current ARM-based processor. There are also possibilities of a new gesture control and FaceTime camera for selfie and video calls. The upcoming Apple Watch 2 is rumored get a Night Shift mode feature which will lessen the emission of blue light from the wearable gadget by making the screen color warmer and allowing for a better sleep, reported GameNGuide.
