Nintendo NX Release Date, News, Update: Leak Confirms NX To Be Console/Mobile Hybrid?

Rumors about Nintendo's next generation NX gaming console have been making rounds for quite some time now. New leak confirms that the highly anticipated Nintendo NX console will come out as a powerful hybrid handheld gaming device.

According to a Eurogamer report citing multiple sources, Nintendo's upcoming NX handheld console will have its own display, while, it will also feature a detachable control system which can be connected to a TV via a docking system to get big screen gaming experience. It will have two detachable controllers that fit on either side of the console for added flexibility.

What's might seem to be disappointing for Nintendo fans is that rumors suggest that NX won't be as powerful as the Xbox Scorpio or the PlayStation Neo. Powered by an NVIDIA Tegra mobile CPU, NX's processing power won't be enough to allow it to compete graphically with other gaming consoles. It is reported that Nintendo selected to use the Tegra chip in order to balance graphical requirements with power efficiency.

There are even reports which claim that the Nintendo NX console will support cartridges as well as allow gamers to play smartphone titles. One of the games rumored to appear in the cartridge format is "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Other than "Pokemon Go," games like "Miitomo" and upcoming releases like "Animal Crossing" and "Fire Emblem" are expected to be compatible with the console/mobile hybrid, according to Value Walk. It is also believed that the Nintendo NX will have its smartphone titles exclusively develop for it.

Due to change in hardware design and internal technology, it is rumored that Nintendo has no plans of rolling out a backward compatibility program for its upcoming console.

It is expected that Nintendo NX release date might get announced next August during the upcoming Gamescom conference.
