It seems that Halo fans will have to wait until 2018 to get the sixth installment of the popular "Halo" franchise, possibly dubbed "Halo 6", to be released. Speculations are that the game is already in the development stage.

While, developer 343 Industries was expected to announce "Halo 6" at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 event, the same did not happen. However, it was confirmed during the event that "Halo 5" won't get a PC version, reported Ubergizmo.

When asked the reason for not rolling out a PC version of "Halo 5," Microsoft's Phil Spencer said it was not sensible for the company to work on PC port of a year-old game, rather they chose to focus on the future and concentrate on new games.

There are reports which claim that "Halo 6" will get a Windows PC version. In fact, Spencer also revealed in an interview that the software giant is looking forward to make all of its next first party games to be Windows 10 compatible. When Spencer was asked if it the next Halo games would have the same fate as "Halo 5," he replied saying "Not at all."

Spoilers suggest "Halo 6" may follow the current "Halo 5" story and may even feature background stories of the characters. It is expected that heroes in the upcoming installment will rise to fight against Cortana - one of many conflicts highlighted in "Halo 5," reported Christian Today.

As far as "Halo 6" release date is concerned, it is expected that the game it is still far from finish. Frank O'Connor, the development director for the franchise, has reportedly confirmed that there are still no definite features for the next game to offer just yet. He added that the developer team is still in the planning and writing stage.

Readers are advised to take the information with a grain of salt as the gaming studio is yet to confirm an official release date for "Halo 6."
