A total of 14 dogs died when the air conditioning in a truck failed in Indiana. Based on the police report, the dogs were found at around 6:20 PM Friday outside a hotel in Roseland.

St. Joseph County police Lt. William Redman claimed that the truck has air conditioning in the cargo area where the dogs were being housed, but that an electrical circuit breaker cut the power. Redma however, said that the reason for the circuit breaker is still unknown.

The temperature reached as high as 86 degrees in South Bend on Friday, as reported by ABC News Go. The truck belongs to Lakesyde Kennels and Handling of Wellington, Ohio.

While it seems like that it was an accident, the Humane Society of South Bend is now investigating the tragedy.

This is not the first incident where dogs died because of no air conditioning. This month, too, a woman was arrested after four dogs in her home experienced the same fate. The woman, Latisha Todd, 34, was charged with four counts of ill treatment of animals, as reported by WYFF4

The woman allegedly left her pets for a month at her Scarsdale Drive home without any food and water, apart from no air-conditioning.

The officers were altered when a maintenance personnel reported about the dead dogs in the backyard. It was later determined by the police that Tood herself put these dogs there upon discovering their bodies in the house. Three of the dogs died in a bedroom while another one passed away in a closed bathroom.

Even a police dog died when air conditioning stopped in his car. As reported by UPI, a police dog in Central California died after the officer left him behind in the air-conditioned car to cool down after a training exercise in 90-degree weather. The officer also did some work for around 90 minutes before returning for Belgian malinois. Unforutnately, the engine shut off and the dog died.
