It seems the highly popular augmented reality mobile app "Pokémon Go" might soon get rolled out for Windows phones. While, Nintendo is keeping mum on a possible release date, the Windows 10 version of the game is reportedly under works by a third party app developer. Currently, the game has been released only for iOS and Android.

According to The Bitbag, the third party developer, ST-Apps, has already begun working on "Pokémon Go" app for Windows 10 Mobile. In fact, the developer has posted online a proof of concept gif of the "Pokémon Go" app which shows the game's interface. Unfortunately, the game app as seen in the gif lacks the augmented reality features of the game which is available on official versions of "Pokémon Go" for iOS and Android.

It still remains unclear when the developer intends to release an open source version of the game as it is concerned about problems related to Niantic's servers as well as legal issues that may arise if the app is made public. There are chances that Niantic might opt to encrypt its servers soon and it the same happens the app will stop working. However, the developer might consider releasing "Pokémon Go" for Windows phones in August if Niantic does not encrypt its servers by then.

Recently, a Facebook user named Rafael Pinheiro asked Microsoft about when it plans to release "Pokémon Go" on Windows. The tech giant replied saying the app will be made available on Windows Store soon. No specific information about the app's release date was revealed, reported GSMArena.

Soon after, the company retracted the comment and posted another comment which read, "Dear fans, we apologize if the comment published previously you induced in error. We have actually received requests for this application will be available for windows phone. The store windows is evaluating options to satisfy this request in the best possible way. We promise to keep you abreast of any developments."

Pokémon fans are still hopeful that "Pokémon Go" for Windows Phone will get rolled out soon.
