The average person spends hours and hours on Facebook to get the latest updates on their social circles and the world. News on Facebook spreads like wildfire, be it bogus news items or real news, and sometimes it's difficult to separate fact from fiction.

Enter ABC and its ambitious bid to be relevant in social media.

The American news company has just landed a deal with Facebook that will enable it to stream live news coverage 24 hours a day for the 2016 Presidential Elections. The news agency will be covering both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions on the social network.

Which show will be aired on Facebook for the news coverage? There will be a host of shows lined up just for this coverage. On Monday, "The Week" will be broadcasting 12 minutes of video featuring an interview with Trevor Noah from "The Daily Show."

According to Variety, ABC's streaming project "will have 24-hour live coverage across a variety of [Facebook] pages. Throughout each day and between the speeches in primetime, ABC News' curated Facebook feed will provide live video of on-the-scene interviews, protests and other breaking news."

Other news outlets have also partnered with Facebook since it launched its live video streaming service, paying for companies like the Huffington Post to broadcast their original footages.

Currently, there is no response from ABC to confirm nor deny whether Facebook is also paying for ABC's coverage of the elections.

Because people still believe television-based news more than online news platforms, Facebook is now gearing up to become a reliable source for news online using their video feature. If the show becomes a success, other outlets could follow, making Facebook the TV of the future where users can "click" through various channels all in one platform.

That includes those annoying commercials that made TiVos relevant in the television age.
