A New Bot Is Now Brewing Your Craft Beer

As sci-fi as it may sound, a machine is sitting down with beer drinkers to know what they want for their beers and give it to them. For the first time, an AI has crafted 4 different beers based on an algorithm from customer feedback and its out on stores for customers to try.

The four beers AI created are called named Amber AI, Black AI, Golden AI and Pale AI, which are all based on customer feedback through Facebook's Messenger app. The bot called Automated Brewing Intelligence (ABI) continuously learns which questions to best ask to get the right combination on what consumers like and didn't like about the beer.

Consumers are asked a series of questions that the subjects can answer using ratings of 1 to 10, yes or no answers, and multiple choice responses. The answers gathered from tastes and preferences are churned out to find a trend to improve the final taste of the beer.

After taking all the feedback, the AI makes adjustments and decisions, then sends it to the master brewer to change the recipe for the next batch.

The AI is the avenue that puts the drinker and the brewer in the same room, virtually speaking. A task that's nearly impossible to do in real life.

"We're using AI to give our brewer superhuman skills, enabling them to test and receive feedback on our beer more quickly than ever before," said Hew Leith, co-founder of IntelligentX.

Because of the technology, the recipe four beers of IntelligentX have been changed 11 times since they were first brewed as the AI continues to evolve to learn more about beer drinkers and their preferences to make better beer experiences.

Other companies are also using a slew of other technologies to make better beer experiences. Fizzics, a countertop device using soundwaves, is making bottled beer taste like it's just been poured from the tap. And then there's PicoBrew Zymatic, an automatic beer brewer that mashes the grain, adds hops and eventually gives you your own beer.
