While Microsoft is keeping mum on the release date of its highly anticipated Surface Pro 5, it is rumored that the laptop-tablet hybrid device might get rolled out in spring next year.

It is assumed that the software giant is delaying the device's release for good reasons. According to reports, Microsoft is very keen in including the upcoming Intel Kaby Lake processing chip in its next line of hybrid devices. But the issue with the Kaby Lake chip is that it is still under development and will not get ready before the end of 2016. This will indirectly postpone Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date. Use of the new Intel chipset is expected to double the efficiency of Microsoft next generation Surface Pro tablet. The current Surface Pro 4 lineup is powered by Intel's latest Skylake processors.

Furthermore, Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is also rumored to come pre-loaded with Windows 10 Professional Redstone 2 operating system. It is to be noted that the Redstone 2 version of the operating system is still under development and is expected to be available by spring of next year.

There are reports which suggest that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will feature a 4K Ultra HD screen display with a resolution of 3840 pixels in width - a major improvement from the 2736 x 1824 resolution of the Surface Pro 4. It is also rumored that the Surface Pro 5 will be quite good at multi-tasking with its 16 GB of RAM. In terms of camera, the device is set to have a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

The next Surface Pro iteration is expected to feature a larger screen of about 12.3 inches, an AMD Polaris or Nvidia Pascal GPU and an improved stylus. Other rumors specs of the new Microsoft Surface Pro 5 include USB type-C port, on-Board Fingerprint Scanner and microSD slot for memory expansion.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to cost around $899 for the Core, $999 for the Intel Core i7, and $1,599 for the i7 Extreme variant.

We would advise our readers to take the information with a big grain of salt as Microsoft is yet to confirm Surface Pro 5 release date, specs and pricing details.
