"Quake," the classic shooter video game, rolled-out its new episode called "Dopa" ahead of its 20th anniversary. The treat is a free-to-play series from MachineGames, the developer of "Wolfenstein: The New Order" and "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood."

The "Quake" game, developed by id Software, was first released on June 22, 1996 and landed on Steam, Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 about a decade later. Now fast-forwarding to this age, "Quake" fans were treated with the game's new episode.

When downloading "Quake" as a standalone game, the player should only extract the contents of the .RAR file from MachineGames into his directory, PC Mag reported. Double-click on the "dopa.bat" file and the wait for the game to initiate.

However, if the user chooses to grab the "Quake: Dopa" through Steam, or otherwise imported the game into Steam, the player should right-click on the listing in the Steam library, select properties, click on the "set launch options" button, and type "-game dopa" into the line. Make sure the contents of MachineGames' .RAR file are extracted into the Quake directory, which is more likely within the Steamapps folder.

"Quake" has a rich history of fan-made mods, levels and source ports, Polygon reported. One of the earliest mods that represented the "Quake" servers on many consoles was Team Fortress, which would later be ported by Valve for their internal Half-Life engine, GoldSrc, and reproduced into a major series. Moreover, fans will not wait too long for a next episode for the PC-only shooting game after the game developers recently announced Bethesda's E3 press conference.

"Quake: Dopa"' episode will be directed by Studio Director Tim Willits, who has had a significant role on every "Quake" game to date. Further updates and features on the game will be hinted during "QuakeCon" this August.
