With E3 imminently coming, Microsoft is one of many companies under the radar. And while games will likely be announced, most are more concerned to know if there will be a new Xbox One in the mix.

Folks are under the impression that a slimmer Xbox One S could be released at the E3 event though such remains to be seen. With Sony expected to steal the show with its PlayStation Neo, some feel that Microsoft will at least try to level the field by hinting at their next game console.

Should that be the case, could it be a new Xbox One with bigger storage?

This crops up after GameSpot reveals a leak reportedly originating from an undisclosed source. The source bares that the store’s internal database was recently updated and spotted was an update 2 TB Xbox One model priced at $449.

The report however adds that the placeholder indicates a release date pegged for December 31, 2016, just in time for the holidays. Will Microsoft shed some more light on the Xbox One S at E3?

For now, the spotting is expectedly up for debate though the bump in storage capacity should be something that gamers will applaud. If true, it updates the current Xbox One with 1 TB game consoles which came into the picture in June, 2015.

Other Features of the Xbox One S

Aside from the storage, the Xbox One S has been piling up the rumor as of late as E3 approaches. Among the specs that the next Microsoft game console will reportedly have to offer include support for 4K, support for high-dynamic range, a vertical stand and ‘streamlined’ controller.

While the hardware specs are impressive, it is more about the light and slim make that the next Xbox One model will come with that has gotten folks curious. How will Microsoft pull that one off?

Tying that up with the alleged 2 TB inclusion, a logical answer would be to see a physically slimmer hard disk drive integrated into the next Xbox One. Rather than the former 3.5-inch size that the current console uses, it could be whittled down to 2.5-inches per a separate report from GameSpot.

Aside from that, there is the optical drive size which could be shrunk a bit to allow for the slimmer make. There is also the cooler used in the current version which could be up for changes in the Xbox One S.

Taking those reduction plans into perspective, it will be interesting if Microsoft can indeed shrink it down by 40% to account for the slim version rumors out right now.
