Uber, one of today's most successful ride-hailing groups, has incorporated a massive location data to its system after striking a deal with Foursquare, a local discovery and search company. The latter will be adding its location information to be embedded into Uber's app.  The goal is to immensely improve the finding capabilities of the Uber application that would benefit commuters.

The two companies have entered into contact and through their technologies; riders will be able to locate more addresses and specific locations.  The riders will only have to key in the name of venue and restaurant, and the location will automatically appear on the screen.  It has been known that the deal is global in nature and will be in effect in many years. However, both companies decline to mention the financial aspect of the project.

The agreement was finalized after Uber riders found it difficult to locate venues that are not popular. However, locating airports or top restaurants remain a breeze with Uber drivers.  The inclusion of Foursquare Location Data will facilitate the travels to locate places that are rarely visited or lesser known.

With the partnership with Foursquare, Uber will be able to improve, customize, and widen its existing Points of Interest (POI) and non-personal location data. Therefore, this would essentially enrich the driver and the rider's overall travel experience.  Foursquare likewise mentioned the modification in its database will take place soon.  The big news was mentioned the company's blog.

This is not the first time Foursquare entered into contract with a giant company.  Both Pinterest and Microsoft have both leveraged Foursquare's own location data.  Apart from the deal with Uber, Foursquare has also just released an app called Marsbot. The app acts as a virtual friend who is able to recommend you places based on your travel habits and preferences.
