Man Killed On Tracks By CalTrain, Caused Delays At Burlingame

A northbound CalTrain killed a man on the tracks near Burlingame on Monday morning, causing delays on the transit system for most of the day. The man, struck near Oak Grove Avenue around 6:35 AM, was right on the track when the No. 305 train ran him over.

The scene caused all the trains in the Silicon Valley area to a standstill as investigators processed the scene, delays in the morning commute were inevitable, as well. According to the San Francisco Gate, the train had in it between 275 to 300 passengers when the incident occurred, although none of them were hurt. To help move the traffic along, bus bridges and ferry riders moved in both direction through the area.

ABC7 News noted that this is already the sixth fatality of a civilian on Caltrain's right of way this year. The identity of the man remains unknown. Caltrain spokesperson Jayme Ackerman also added that the southbound Caltrain 443 train, in a domino effect, was held at the spot as investigators went on to look into the fatality.

Trains may be convenient for travel, but they are also cause of great danger over the years due to the increase in their speed.
