Uber has released the official photos of the self-driving cars-a year after the public has learned about the prototype of the innovative project.

A hybrid Ford Fusion, the self-driving car has "radars, laser, scanners, and high resolutions cameras to map details of the environment," Uber said in a blog post.

In its website, the company added: "While Uber is still in the early days of self-driving efforts, every day of testing leads to improvements. Right now, wer'e focused on getting the technology right and ensuring it's safe for everyone on the road-pedestrians, cyclists, and other drivers."

Uber has allowed a reported of Pittsburgh Tribune-Review to experience the car. The reporter, as shared on The Verge, said the car was able to drive itself on 31st Street Bridge and on River Avenue. The reported added that the car would have a loud beep when it detects a car swerving into its lane. The reporter added that the car was able to recognize jaywalkers, cyclists, and even a goose crossing the road.

About 15 months ago, Uber opened its Advanced Technologies Center in Pittsburgh to work on car units that can drive on its own.

The innovative company Uber is currently valued at $US62.5 billion. It currently competes with the likes of Tesla, Google, GM, and Apple, according to CNN Money.

Headquartered in San Francisco, California, Uber is an American-owned online transportation company. It started as "UberCab" in 2009. In 2012, the company expanded internationally as it continued to get more consumers. As early as 2014, a few years after it started, it was considered one of the most powerful companies in the United States.

While Uber has brought convenience to many commuters around the globe, the legality of the company has often been challenged by different governments and taxi operations worldwide. Others have claimed the Uber is not a safe option since the drivers are not licensed to drive cabs.
