LG Action Cam is a small camera, which does not need the support of a phone for streaming video. The camera itself can go directly to video sites like YouTube Live.

The LG Action Cam, a 12.3-megapixel small camera, is built to capture full HD, HD-ready, or UHD video in 60, 120 and 30 frames per second. However, the live streaming is limited only to 30 frames per second or 720p video.

The new LG Action Cam is fully-equipped with wireless connectivity, such as the Bluetooth,  LTE and Wi-Fi support all on board. As for the other specs, the small camera has a 2GB of RAM and 4GB of memory, which is reserved for the camera's OS. It can also support microSD cards, accelerometer, gyroscope as well as a 1,400mAh battery that can provide up to four hours of video recording in full HD.

The camera is also reported to be dust and water to IP67 specifications, which means it can be soaked  in water for about one meter for a long period of 30 minutes. The LG is also set to introduce a case that is entirely water-proof later this year, D Preview reported.

When it comes to the action cam's video quality, the LG cam is expected to be at par with the other mid-range offerings. The small camera must also be capable of capturing videos that can be compared to the ones taken by the GoPro Hero Session that has the same specs of 1.55µm-sized pixels, a 1/2.3-inch sensor and 150-degree lens.

Although the camera does not need a phone to run it, if falls under the category of LG's "Friends." Meanwhile, LG has now one camera in such lineup, the LG 360 cam that will allow capturing videos and photos in 360 degrees without the use of any phone, much like when accessing YouTube.

LG Action Cam, though it has no announcement yet regarding its price, is set to be unveiled in June in South Korea after its international launch this year,  9to5 Google reported.
