Android Apps is reported to being worked on by Google on Chrome OS. This could mean that the users are likely to experience them on their Chromebook.

The Android Apps rumor started when a Reddit user noticed a Chrome OS setting which said, "Enable Android Apps on your Chromebok". According to the Reddit user, the feature was shown in Chrome OS' version 51, which is presently in the Developer Channel.

By enabling the rumored setting, the users will be allowed to access a few Google Play Store apps, including some tutorial on how to get things started. While the option was immediately removed, there are reports which indicate that the source code of Chrome OS' version 51 implies that the option could soon be made available for Chromebooks.

Meanwhile, Google released an App Runtime for Chrome, or the ARC tool, in 2015 that gives support to the developers to transfer Android apps to Chrome OS. This tool has the basic version of the Play Services that allows the limited features like the Cloud Messaging, the Google sign-in and others.  The complete access to the Google Play Store means that the Chrome OS can have access to the millions of apps. But, it also means that Google must develop a better and larger ARC  module, or must provide Play Services in Chrome.

The Android Apps on Chrome OS is expected to be welcomed by Chrome users across the globe because this move by Google means access to a larger app store. However, both operating systems are going to stay as standalone based on the company's announcement in 2015.

Android Apps for Chrome OS is yet to be confirmed by Google, as details have not been revealed yet as well. The company is expected to share more information regarding the new features of Chrome OS, including its version 51, in its annual developer conference named "Google I/O" in mid May.
