Curtain Drop: Prince's Family and Friends Bid the Singer Final Goodbye

Pop Icon Prince was laid to his final resting place surrounded by some of his most beloved family, friends and other musicians in a small, private service on Saturday after his remains had been cremated.

In life, Prince commanded the spotlight by his eccentric personality, but as soon as the curtains go down and the lights dimmed he goes back to his mysterious and private self. Until his death, Prince's close friends and family want to keep things that way.

The iconic artist's publicist Yvette Noel-Schure said in a statement that the music superstar's family and friends said a loving goodbye "in a private, beautiful ceremony."

Larry Graham, a songwriter and musician who collaborated with Prince for many years, and the one who introduced him to Jehovah's Witness said that the popstar was a very spiritual man. "As a musician, he pushed us," Graham said. According to CBS News, another artist who was present at the private ceremony was Sheila E., a singer and percussionist who worked with the Purple One back in the mid-80s.

She pointed out how impossible it is to not fall in love with Prince's music and that the public didn't know who he really was. "They didn't know him like we did," Sheila said. "So, we want to keep it at that. It's all about his music, and how he lived, writing songs for us."

Paisely Park, Prince's suburban Minneapolis estate was filled with purple balloons, flowers, signs by fans to honor the late popstar. The iconic singer was found unconscious in an elevator at Paisley Park on Thursday and an autopsy was done Friday and stated that there was no obvious signs or trauma and that the singer died alone. The official cause of death is yet to be released and police said that it would take a few days or weeks, woodtv.com reported.

Prince's publicist also said in a statement that the singer's "final storage" will remain private and that a musical celebration will happen at a later time. "We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time," the statement said.
