The new 12-inch MacBook by Apple was launched on Tuesday with a base price of $1,299. The newly released model features Retina display that gives the sleek and slender notebook Intel's latest-generation Skylake chips. The device has also been upgraded with an extra hour of battery life, faster flash storage and improved graphics.

As per the information released by Apple, the refreshed line of MacBook has also been introduced in a rose gold color, similar to iPad product lineups and the iPhone. The ultraportable notebook comes with single USB-C port for syncing and charging, Force Touch trackpad, full size keyboard and a 12-inch Retina display, all included in a frame that is just 13.1 millimeters thick and weighs 2 pounds.

The base configuration of the new MacBook includes 256 gigabytes of flash storage, 8 gigabytes of RAM and a 1.1-gigahertz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor. The electronic equipment, which features the sixth generation Intel Core M processors with dual core, can run up to a speed of 1.3 gigahertz, and up to 3.1 gigahertz with Turbo Boost. The upgraded notebook also includes a faster 1866 megahertz memory.

The Intel HD Graphics 515 makes the MacBook's graphic performance up to 25 percent faster. The new PCIe based flash storage has also improved its speed. The battery life of the notebook has been improved as well, and Apple claims that nearly 10 hours of wireless web browsing and up to 11 hours of iTunes movie playback is possible on it.

"MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it's our vision for the future of the notebook," said Philip Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Apple. "Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish."

The new MacBook ships with OS X El Capitan, the latest version of Apple's Mac operating system. Apple-built apps like iWork productivity suite, Garageband and iMovie are also included at no extra charge.
