The Skarp Laser Razor project just lost crowdfunding for its campaign from Kickstarter. After surpassing the goal of $160,000 and gaining over $4 million for the device, it has now appeared on Indiegogo as of Tuesday.

Researchers behind the Skarp Laser Razor call it the "future of shaving." The device uses lasers instead of blades to trim hair, which decreases the risk of razor burn, cuts and the need for new and expensive cartridge replacements.

The researchers claim that the razor was their prototype, from which they would require a high-performance precision manufactured fibre that could come from crowdfunding money to help create a more practical version, according to NYSE Post.

However, Kickstarter noted their issues in an email, via The Register: "...we've concluded that [the Skarp Laser Razor project] is in violation of our rule requiring working prototypes of physical products that are offered as rewards" adding that "suspensions cannot be undone."

So far, the identical campaign has attracted over $48,000 in pledges under the site's "flexible spending" rule; this means that even if the target funding of $160,000 is not met, the researchers can still keep any money they get.

"To produce the shaving results we discuss in our presentation, we require a high performance precision manufactured fiber," said Skarp's CIO Oliver Pearce-Owen, via The Verge. "We have taken our prototype as far as we can before mass production and that is why we are on Indiegogo."
