These days, it's not steroid, it's not diet pills and it's not just a whole lot of protein. Today's bodybuilders are going for a more natural taste of fitness: Breast milk.

"It isn't common, but I've known people who have done this. It's certainly talked about quite a bit on the bodybuilding forums on the Internet," said Brett Schoenfeld, a former competitive body builder and now an assistant professor of exercise science at CUNY Lehman College in New York City, via ABC News.

Of course, previous research shows that human breast milk carries numerous benefits for new mothers who are breastfeeding and in breast-milk for new babies.

Breastfeeding helps a new mom burn calories and lose some of the pregnancy weight a bit faster. Similarly, the milk holds an essential mix of vitamins, proteins and fat that aren't always available in baby formulas. Many websites also offer money for women looking to sell their breast milk. For instance, onlythebreast.com offers some up to $60 a day.

However, researchers have found that there is no scientific evidence suggesting that breast milk will help bodybuilders, particularly when it comes to bulking up.

The proper guidelines for contributing and shipping the milk are oftentimes lost, which can also increase the risk of bacteria in the milkBreast milk is typically a lot more expensive than cow's milk and also holds even less protein, at 2.5 grams per cup of breast milk and 7.9 grams per cow's milk.

Might be best to stick to horse tranquilizers, right guys? (Just kidding.) The old-fashioned diet and exercise routine is probably what any bodybuilder should opt for.
