The mummified remains of a meditating Buddhist monk have been discovered in Mongolia-and the body is still in a meditation position. Currently, researchers estimate that the monk is at least 200 years old.

The mummified body, which was covered in cattle skin, is still sitting in the lotus position, according to Fox News. However, there's no word yet as to how the mummy was discovered or where exactly it was found.

That said, it's already been suggested that the meditating monk was a teacher of the famous Lama Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov whose body was found eerily preserved and also seated in the lotus position after his own death in 1927, according to NY Daily News. He was laid to rest in a pine box, and then was later exhumed in 1955. In 1973, monks found that the body was still in near-perfect condition and still sitting upright, according to Fox News.

That said, investigations are still ongoing when it comes to this latest find. Researchers are studying the remains in the capital of Ulaanbataar, according to the Mirror. In time, they will hopefully be able to uncover the identity of this individual and possibly his history.

You can find a picture of hte meditating mummy on the Siberian Times site.
