The L.A. porn industry is under an indefinite film moratorium after another one of its performers tested positive for HIV on Thursday--a condition that progressively threatens the immune system and currently has no cure.

"Confirmatory tests are not yet back, but we are taking every precaution to protect performers and to determine if there's been any threat to the performer pool," said Diane Duke, executive director of the trade group Free Speech Coalition, via the New York Daily News. "We take the health of our performers very seriously and felt that it was better to err on the side of caution while we determine whether anyone else may have been exposed."

At this time, Duke said it is best that the industry errs on the side of caution so as not to potentially endanger the lives of other adult performers.

The latest moratorium is the third in the past year alone, according to the LA Times. Adult actor Cameron Bay and boyfriend Rod Daily both tested positive for HIV earlier in the year, halting further production for a period. A second moratorium was also imposed in the past year when a third actor tested positive.

The current shutdown comes just two weeks after California legislators shot down a bill that required adult film actors to use condoms while on set. The Free Speech Coalition said they believe that the bill would push work out of state and that the current methods were already working well.

The latest incident was called tragic by the Aids HealthCare Foundation, which has pushed that actors use condoms. Furthermore, a statewide implementation of the law has called to protect actors in the adult film industry in order to prevent future occurrences.
