If you are wondering whether you are addicted to your cell phone, a new app might help you figure this by tracking the time you spend on your phone.

Cell phone addiction is a growing problem. Spending a huge amount of time hooked on to this modern technology might spark several health issues. But, using this new app the users can find out how much time they spend on the phone and if they are addicted. A new free app called 'Moment' helps Smartphone users monitor their phone usage and allows the users to determine their level of obsession with their cell phones, according to Daily Mail.

The developer, Kevin Holesh, said the idea to develop this app originated from his personal excessive use of smartphone.

"About six months ago, I realized I had a serious problem," he wrote in a blog post. "I was addicted to my phone, exactly like I predicted when I first waded into these always-connected waters. I felt naked if my phone wasn't weighing down my right pocket."

The free app "Moment" is an iOS application that monitors the use of cell phone over a day. If the user's cell phone usage is too much, he or she can set a daily limit with the help of the app. It will notify the users when they cross their self-set limits. The users can also set reminders that alert them once they cross 50 percent of the allotted time, according to Counsel& Heal.

"I currently have my daily limit set to 40 minutes, so after 40 minutes on my iPhone for the day, I get an annoying buzzer asking me to look away from the glowing box in my hands," he said. "I had a lot of excuses when I first realized my problem. I need my phone for work,' I'd tell myself, and now, I make due with only 40 minutes on my iPhone, and I basically work on my iPhone for a living."

There is no date set for the release of the upcoming 'Moment' app for Android
