Florida Diver Battles Great White Shark with Spear to Escape [VIDEO]

A scuba diver's lucky escape from a great white shark that he encountered off the coast of Florida has gone viral on YouTube.

Jimmy Roseman of West Melbourne, Florida, came terrifyingly close to a massive 12-foot-long great white shark while he was diving at a depth of 90 feet off the Atlantic Coast near Vero Beach. He managed to fend off the potentially deadly shark with a spear.

This escape from ocean's most dangerous predator was captured on a GoPro camera mounted on the diver's helmet.

The shark was at a distance when he took the dive but came close to Roseman in a jiffy. In self-defence he charged the shark with his spear to fend it off, according to Mail Online.

Roseman told FOX 35, "It is not very evident in the video that the shark was kind of far away but the whole time it was almost six-seven foot away from me."

The tussle lasted two minutes when finally Roseman's air tank was hit by the shark's fin. It was then that he used the spear gun to prod the monster to scare it away. This action has gone viral and been viewed by over 403, 166 viewers.

Roseman said to Fox 35, "I had to poke it really hard that last time."

The great white shark also called as the white shark or white death is found in coastal surface waters of major oceans. It is mainly known for its enormous size and has no natural predator other than Orca. They are the world's largest known primary predators of marine mammal. They are considered vulnerable by the IUCN.
