20,000 Bees Evicted From Florida Woman’s Home [VIDEO]

A 98-year-old  woman, Sevia Moore, was surprised to learn that she was living with over 20,000 bees in her one-story house in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

The presence of the massive beehive came to light after exterminators were called to get rid of the rats in the attic. According to media reports, rodents including squirrels were snacking on the honey.

Moore told local NBC affiliate WESH that she was not aware of the presence of the buzzing colony residing and breeding in her home's attic and awning.

She never came across the bees ever.

A local beekeeper, Leo Cross, the founder of Florida Wildlife Trappers, arrived at the scene and found that the bees had occupied every single hollow space in her home. The bees were trapped into a container using a vacuum cleaner. They carried the bee hive to a safe place.

"She'd had this colony of bees up there for about a year," said Cross. "[She] didn't even know what was going on inside the house."It's pretty mind-boggling not to notice that you have a beehive of that size upstairs."

"I think the honeybee population is hurting right now," Cross told WESH. "So it's very good to, if you can, save the hive.

Cross plans on setting more traps for the rodents.
