Most couples expect sex on the wedding night to be incredible but many end-up being disappointed. About 52 percent of newlyweds fail to have sex on their wedding night, a new survey reported.

A latest survey reveals that majority of the newlyweds fail to have sex on the wedding night for reasons ranging from the groom being too drunk to the bride falling asleep after a hectic day, the DailyMail reports.

The survey included 2,138 people who were married for the past three years.  Nearly 52 percent of the participants reported not making love on their wedding night and nearly 17 percent of the participants waited for more than three days.

Amongst the participants who admitted not making love on their wedding night, 24 percent of them complained that the groom was too drunk, 16 percent of them blamed the bride for being too sleepy and tired and 13 reported that the bride was too drunk. In four percent cases the bride fell asleep immediately after the ceremony. And, nine percent of the participants remember their special night going sour due to an argument just before the reception.

Travelling to honeymoon destination and time spent celebrating their wedding were some of the other reasons for not making love on the wedding night, researchers found.

"The emphasis of wedding night sex for married couples is no longer a huge factor," said George Charles, marketing director of Voucher Codes Pro, which conducted the survey, according to Daily Mail. "It may be that the stress and pressure of organizing a wedding takes the main priority, especially considering such a large proportion of couples have been living together for years," Charles added.

The study conducted by VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, shows the idea of first night has changed for people getting married nowadays as many couples are already cohabiting.
